NOVEMBER 2017

by Emma Bannen, Director of PR

‘TIS THE SEASON!

The University of Alabama has so many traditions around the holidays, but it’s always a crowd favorite when each sorority house puts up their Christmas decorations. We love watching as all our neighbors decorate their houses and we had an amazing time decorating the Delta Gamma house! This month, we welcomed some of our Delta Gamma alumni to help us decorate our house for Christmas. Our sisters had a great time swapping stories with alumni as we all started to get into the holiday season!

OUR FEARLESS LEADERS!

At the end of November, we installed the newest members of our Chapter Management Team and our Joint Chapter Management Team. The Chapter Management team consists of our president and vice presidents that oversee all the aspects of our chapter and lead us to be the best we can be. Each vice president has directors underneath her that are members of the Joint Chapter Management Team. These women are so excited to be leading our chapter for the next year! We will miss all of the former officers that have led us this past year, but we are so excited to see just how far we can go with this new leadership. These talented women have so many great ideas to better our chapter!

TACKY CHRISTMAS!

We can hardly wait for Christmas to get here! All our sisters had the best time dressing up in our favorite Christmas outfits and dancing the night away. Our Tacky Christmas party was a huge success this year. We all headed to Chophouse where our sisters and their dates enjoyed music and dancing (and chicken tenders)! It was so fun to see everyone’s tacky Christmas sweaters and spend time with our sisters and dates!

SISTERHOOD SPOTLIGHTS!

BAILEE BRAUN

Year: Junior

Major: Management Information Systems

Involvement in Delta Gamma: I’ve always enjoyed going to anchor splash and all of our other philanthropy events! I live at the house this year and love the opportunity it’s given me to meet other sisters.

Campus Involvement: I am currently a TA for MIS 330 which is a Database Administration course which I have really enjoyed doing. I took the class last semester and it has been a great opportunity to get more involved. I was an MIS Ambassador last semester as well as a Course Hero Business Development Intern on campus.

Recent Accomplishments: I have remained on the Dean’s and President’s list since coming to the university. I also just received an internship with KPMG in Charlotte, NC for this summer! I will be a Risk Consulting Intern in their Advisory program. I am super excited about this opportunity and am looking forward to meeting new people and gaining new experiences in a new city!!

Fun Facts: I am spending the next semester in Barcelona, Spain with another sister, Karli Filips. We are really excited so spend a few months abroad together and be able to travel to so many different places. Another random fun fact is that I can flip my tongue upside down!! I also have a pug named Archie and he is the cutest dog in the entire world.

MORGAN JACOBSOHN

Year: Freshman

Major: Marketing & Advertising

Involvement in Delta Gamma: I am the director of sisterhood, on the (championship winning) flag football team, and was an anchor splash assistant coach.

Campus Involvement: I’m in Al’s Pals and CHAARG. I’ve always loved teaching and working with kids. In my hometown, I started a free tutoring programming at my library for kids who couldn’t afford tutors so I would just be a “homework buddy” for them. I was in the teacher cadet class in high school where I went to my elementary school and taught first grade every other day. So, when I came here, Al’s Pals was the perfect way for me to continue that passion! I mentor one student every Wednesday and help him with his homework. CHAARG is one of the most amazing programs I’ve ever joined! It’s a female exercise and empowerment group where we motivate each other to stay healthy, be positive and work out. We have small group work out sessions and studio spotlight work outs that are for the entire club every Tuesday that are a different activity every week.

Hobbies/Interests: I love to be active, tutor and teach children, volunteer and help people in any way that I can, be involved, and plan events!

Favorite DG Memory so far: Alexandra (a DG in my pledge class) and I were randomly paired as roommates at orientation and we kept in contact and had dinner during rush week but had no idea what houses we would end up in. On bid day, we opened our letters with out separate groups then ran to each other to see what we got and we showed each other our letters and hugged and now we are sisters and best friends!

Fun Fact: I love to be organized and positive!
